Losing excess weight is an important factor for promoting and insuring good health, less chronic disease, a better quality of life, fewer expenses for medical and surgical treatments and medications and an overall feeling of self-empowerment and confidence. These facts are generally well known but not fully appreciated and adopted because if they were then 70% of Americans would not be overweight and 40% would not be obese. But losing weight and keeping to off is more complex than it appears. And this may be one reason why there are so many misleading, dishonest and fraudulent products and programs advertised and marketed for weight loss. For the great majority of weight loss products there are no randomized clinical trials showing their benefits over placebo control groups, mechanisms of action, reported side effects or any sound nutritional guidance on what is needed to lose weight and then keep it off. Perhaps this information is not important because any product or program will work if it causes an adherence to a calorie reduced intake of food and beverages. But products that sound too good to be true and not based on any sound and logical science are usually only able to take your money, leave you frustrated, and with a short term temporary weight loss that is almost always destined to return with a greater amount of weight. For example, if you drink apple cider vinegar for weight loss and eat only 1000 calories a day you will lose weight- not because of anything associated with the apple cider vinegar, but because of your reduced calorie intake. Then after some time, because there were no changes made to your eating behavior regarding portion size, snacking on refined sugary junk foods and treats, regular soda and alcohol intake, or physical activity levels the weight returns along with a painful feeling of failure, disappointment and resentment. These failed weight loss attempts usually lead to feelings of anger and frustration, and this is the painful and humiliating cycle of yo-yo dieting. And then there are the ridiculous and shamefully marketed products that are advertised to melt or dissolve your fat cells overnight. While losing weight is important for your health, so is losing weight in a safe and legitimate way important for your health.
This is why I developed the weight loss products Attenuate and AttenuSlim that are based on clinical research with scientific validation and real-world experience in the treatment of overweight individuals. These products, developed to help reduce appetite, decrease hunger and curb carbohydrate cravings, along with some weight loss insights in my book ‘Lose It And Keep It Off’ can provide overweight individuals with a better chance of achieving a healthy and lasting healthy weight.
