As a board certified internist, endocrinologist and Diplomate in Obesity Medicine, with years of clinical experience Dr. Vash has the tools and skills necessary to help you lose your extra weight and then keep it off.

By using results of scientific and medically based clinical studies, the needed education, encouragement, guidance, motivation and support is provided that will help promote and result in your safe, sustainable and effective weight loss.

Guidance and insight is given concerning the host of safe and effective FDA approved medications that could be used to help facilitate the weight loss process and help prevent weight regain.

New and unique weight loss products and services are presented and made available to help you achieve a safe, satisfying and sustainable weight loss.

THE OVERWEIGHT CONDITION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY

Overweight individuals who want to lose weight can be helped to achieve this goal by getting and using the appropriate care that they need. As an obesity medicine specialist, I have written, lectured and advocated the concept that the overweight condition is a serious condition, that needs to be taken seriously and treated seriously, with serious interventions.

This is because the overweight condition, and it's closely related disease type 2 diabetes, are two of the most common, costly and chronically disabling diseases that affect a majority of the American population.

I have treated, managed and cared for overweight and obese patients for more than 25 years, and I have learned that it is essential to educate, encourage, guide, motivate and support them and give them a realistic hope that they can control their weight to: 'Lose It And Keep It Off'.

When I first start to work with an overweight individual, I strive to establish a trusting therapeutic bond. I work to convey to them that I will listen to them and can be trusted to treat them with respect and a commitment to provide them with scientifically based and clinically validated competent and compassionate care.

TOGETHER WE REVIEW AND EXAMINE PERSONAL AND EMOTIONAL BARRIERS

It is important to get a full medical and dietary history from the patient, especially a history of past and present medical conditions, and what medications (prescription and non-prescription) they use. It is important to do a physical exam and to get the needed and pertinent laboratory blood tests to be able to rule out certain medical conditions that have a relationship to metabolism and weight gain.

It is also important to get a history of eating behaviors, behavioral and emotional issues that promote weight gain and may interfere with weight loss. Together we review and examine those personal and emotional barriers that can affect their ability to manage their eating behaviors.

EMOTIONAL AND STRESS INDUCED EATING ARE MAJOR PROBLEMS

Emotional and stress induced eating are major problems that confront most individuals who are trying to lose weight. These can be addressed and effectively managed to prevent an interference with weight loss, and help long term weight stability.

One of the most effective dietary interventions for weight loss, that I use is the Protein Sparing Modified Fast, first pioneered by the Harvard Medical School more than 30 years ago.

I also review the FDA approved medications that are specifically used for weight loss and determine which could be used with the appropriate patient.

Diet and lifestyle modification are the cornerstones of any weight loss program, but what most patients need is kind, compassionate support and guidance, and this is the cornerstone of my treatment program.

I share with my patients the concept that there is no one best diet, no best food or weight losing food group, there is no magic for weight loss, but with insightful education, support and the correct tools a safe, significant and sustainable healthy weight can be achieved.
