Visceral Fat and Insulin Resistance
A patient recently asked me about a supplement currently being advertised on TV that is supposed to reduce insulin resistance by reducing superficial fat, the fat just under the abdominal skin. Unfortunately, like so many health and wellness products advertised on TV, this information is incorrect, misleading, confusing and intended to profit themselves rather than help you. The reality is that there is a deeper layer of fat beneath this superficial fat, known as visceral fat, that is the actual collection of fat associated with insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and heart disease. When the amount of this visceral fat is increased more fatty acids and triglycerides are released from it and transported to the liver which then interferes with its function. The liver then develops a metabolic resistance to insulin and this interference reduces the body’s insulin effectiveness to keep blood sugar levels in a normal range. It is less visceral fat, not superficial fat, that helps to increase insulin’s effectiveness. But there is no pill or supplement that can directly reduce visceral fat, only a calorie deficit diet with a reduced calorie intake and increased physical activity will cause a generalized body weight loss that also causes a reduction of visceral fat. And this is best accomplished by reducing eating large portions, snacking and drinking less alcohol and sugar sweetened beverages. With these facts in mind and as an endocrinologist who treats insulin resistant and overweight patients, I wanted to create a helpful and honest weight loss product that would also reduce insulin resistance. With my understanding of fat metabolism, I developed an herbal product that can help reduce appetite, decrease hunger, and control the cravings for carbohydrates and processed sugary snack foods. Clinical studies have documented that it can reduce abdominal, hip and waist sizes. It has also been shown to reduce the stomach producing hunger hormone Ghrelin so as to help promote a sense of fullness but without feeling deprived. This product, AttenuSlim, which helps to cause visceral fat loss also contains the metabolic ingredient Zychrome which has been clinically shown to help the liver reduce its resistance to insulin and normalize blood sugar levels. With increased weight loss there is less visceral fat and this helps to reduce insulin resistance which then helps prevent type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. When you order your first bottle of Attenuslim, and email me your email address, I will be happy to send you a free pdf copy of my 170 page book, ‘LOSE IT AND KEEP IT OFF’, which will help explain the weight loss process in greater detail, and allow you to better manage your weight.
